I'm Performing This Saturday, Come Through!
Black Girls Glow is putting on a concert in Accra this Saturday 27th July, 7pm, Alliance Française, for FREE! I'm performing with 6 other incredible women. RSVP now!
I hope everyone has entered the second half of the year refreshed and ready for what the next few months have to offer.
I know that most people who read this know me primarily as a writer. What may not be as obvious is that sometimes, I speak my writing out loud. Sometimes, I even write songs and make poetry that sounds like music. 😉
I started off the second half of the year with a residency that has been years overdue for me. Black Girls Glow has an annual sound residency for African women musicians, singers, rappers, poets, anyone who works with sound. As of 2024, the residency is called Koshka. For years, I have referred friends I thought would benefit from the program, but the stars simply refused to align. Until this year!
We spent a week together, attending workshops, creating music, writing together, vibing together. And now we are having a free concert!
Join us this Saturday 27th July at Alliance Française, at 7pm for the Koshka 2024 Concert! RSVP using this link.
It's going to be me (Akotowaa), Massy, Abbla Unique, UZÉI (all the way from Nigeria), Lamisi, Traygan, and Dumama (all the way from Germany via South Africa). Not only are we performing a few of the tracks we created together, but we're performing some of our individual work as well. So, if you're a fan of any one of us—and if you're reading this, I assume you're a fan of me—come through. I suspect you're going to make some delightful new sonic discoveries.
To all of my subscribers who are in Accra, I'm looking forward to seeing you!
